Free Sharks
Hello! I`m very glad to write for you in this beautiful morning. It`s so warm in the sun today that if it were not a wind you couldn`t want another weather on this nice winter day.
For the first time I had enough time to walk about the Kingsborough College. I liked its beaches with lots of benches. You may sit on them and look at the ocean and sometimes make your homework. I was impressed by variety of different kinds of fish which are in aquariums. Those huge aquariums are parts of the walls in the lighthouse building. Yes, the college has its own lighthouse! There were some visitors who were taking photos of those fascinating fish. You can see the urchin with its blinking eye, many various fish, and even some sharks.
It was not easy for me to take a photo of the sharks because they didn’t want to pose. They liked to swim near the surface of the water. They looked angry. May be they were hungry? I`m going there next time again to take another photo of these dangerous fish. If you are there you`ll pay your attention to beautifully decorated bottom of these aquariums that resemble the underworld of the sea. If you can afford one hour I recommend you to visit this place. You`ll get much pleasure in doing it. Oh, it's free!
Helen Keller
These days we read the book “Helen Keller” as a home reading. It is a story about a girl who after disease which she contracted at the age of nineteen months was left blind and deaf. Teacher asked us to read one part for every lesson. This book was so interesting for me that I couldn`t wait my next English lesson. I have read it to the end twice. I was delighted with this story and after having read I wrote an essay as long as four pages. I hope my teacher was glad having read it, because the next lesson I got a surprising gift from her. She lend me the book which was written by Helen Keller. It was her first book, named “The story of my life.” The book contains her letters, from which you can understand how this girl made her progress in studying English. I read her early letters and I can already find mistakes. May be you`ll find mistakes yourself in her writing, too. I suggest to read this book to everybody, because it is not only an interesting story. It is a great book for the beginners who want to improve English.
Two Horrible Accidents
I have spent all day off on the rink. Horrible accident happened there. We saw woman was injured. She fell down and somebody cut her head with ice skate's blade. There was a lot of blood on the ice. She had lied for thirty minutes on the ice waiting for the ambulance. She has been taken to the hospital.
After the shock gone everybody continued his ice skating. Later another horrible accident happened. I was named ”Ma'am” by a very young boy. At home I've found the definition in a dictionary which said, "Short for madam. It is used as a little of respect, especially for female royalty". Somehow I don't feel myself a royalty it just make me feel old.
New Ice Skates
My husband and I are fond of ice skating but we don't like to rent skates. They are too old, dirty and smelly there. So we decided to buy our own. We went about the city looking for them. There was not huge choice and it has taken us two days. Finally we have succeeded. We have bought two pairs of nice ice skates at the Wonderland Sports. They even have sharpened it for us for free. A shop assistant was very useful and helped us quickly make right choice. Now we are ready for enjoying spending time on the rink.
